Navy SEALs Who Killed Bin Laden Rescue US Hostage (Video)

Navy SEAL Team 6 did it again. They're the special ops forces who conducted the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, and today they rescued an American hostage held in Somalia along with her Danish colleague, according to the Associated Press.

The SEALs rescued Jessica Buchanan and Danish citizen Poul Thisted, who had been taken hostage near Galcayo, Somalia on October 25, 2011. Both Buchanan and Thisted work for the Danish Demining Group.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta released a statement in which he thanked U.S. Special Operations Forces for their brave mission:

This successful hostage rescue, undertaken in a hostile environment, is a testament to the superb skills of courageous service members who risked their lives to save others.  I applaud their efforts, and I am pleased that Ms. Buchanan and Mr. Thisted were not harmed during the operation.  This mission demonstrates our military's commitment to the safety of our fellow citizens wherever they may be around the world.

According to Panetta, both Buchanan and Thisted are in a safe location where medical personnel are evaluating their health.
