Seven U.S. troops and four Afghans were killed when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed this morning in Afghanistan, according to the Associated Press. The UH-60 Black Hawk crashed in Kandahar’s Shah Wali Kot district.
The Taliban is claiming its insurgents shot down the aircraft.
According to a NATO ISAF press release:
The crash resulted in the deaths of four International Security Assistance Force service members, three United States Forces-Afghanistan service members, three members of the Afghan National Security Forces, and one Afghan civilian interpreter.
The cause of the helicopter crash is under investigation.
