Two members of the Air Force were injured today when the C-17 aircraft they were working on was hit by a rocket at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. The Pentagon reports that same aircraft had transported Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Army General Martin Dempsey, to Afghanistan on August 19th.
According to the Department of Defense:
Two rockets landed on the flightline of this sprawling base sometime around 2 a.m. Two airmen suffered cuts and bruises, and the front of the transport jet and one engine were damaged.
The DoD reports this most recent attack was similar to previous attacks at Bagram, and there is no indication insurgents were targeting Dempsey.
