Guam In Mourning Over Two Soldiers' Deaths

Two young soldiers from the U.S. territory of Guam lost their lives in suicide car bomb attack near Kabul, Afghanistan on May 16.

Killed were:

Sgt. Eugene M. Aguon, 23, of Mangilao, Guam, and

Spc. Dwayne W. Flores, 22, of Sinajana, Guam

According to the Department of Defense, both soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team at Fort Juan Muna in Guam.

As Home Post reported last week, the car bomb attack on May 16 also killed four American civilian defense contractors and nine Afghan civilians - two of whom were children.

A spokesman for the Islamist group Hezb-e-Islami claimed responsibility for the attack.
