Crash Site Of Helicopter In Okinawa
Search crews today discovered human remains at the crash site of a U.S. Air Force helicopter in Okinawa, prompting the Air Force to suspend its search for one of the aircraft's missing crew members, according to 18th Wing Public Affairs
The remains have not yet been identified.
As Home Post reported Monday, the HH-60G Pave Hawk, assigned to Kadena Air Base, crashed in the Central Training Area near Camp Hansen in Okinawa late Monday afternoon.
Three of the aircraft's four crew members ejected safely from the aircraft.
The 18th Wing has suspended flying activities for Tuesday to focus on search and recovery operations:
Flight operations for fixed-wing aircraft are scheduled to resume tomorrow. It is not yet known when the rescue squadron will resume flying.
The Air Force has not released the name of the missing airman.
