Two United States soldiers drowned when their Humvee fell into the Hantan River on Nov. 21.

The soldiers were driving toward the Rodriguez Live Fire Complex in Yeoncheon, South Korea when the accident happened, according to Yonhap News Agency.

South Korean authorities told Yonhap News Agency an all-night search lead to the recovery of two bodies Friday morning.

Maj. Gen. Thomas Vandal, the 2nd Infantry Division commander, released a statement upon learning of the soldiers' deaths:

"We were all holding on to the hope that these soldiers would be found alive. Our condolences go out to their families and loved ones. This is a tough day for the division, as we mourn the loss of our own.

"We appreciate everyone, to include our Republic of Korea partners, who participated in the search and recovery."
A 2nd Infantry Division spokeswoman told Stars and Stripes the soldiers' identities have not yet been released, pending notification of family.
