The military is looking into the circumstances surrounding the Jan. 17 death of Army Spc. Andrew H. Sipple, 22, in Kandahar City, Kandahar province, Afghanistan.
According to the Department of Defense, Sipple lost his life in a "non-combat related incident."
A news release from Fort Hood states Sipple joined the Army in April 2010. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood in Texas.
In addition to his most recent deployment to Afghanistan, Sipple also deployed to Iraq from September 2010 to August 2011.
Sipple wrote on his Facebook page that he was a 2009 graduate of Middle Creek High School in Apex, N.C. He listed his hometown as Raleigh, N.C.
