Men wearing Afghan Security Force uniforms shot and killed two NATO International Security Force service members Wednesday in eastern Afghanistan, according to CNN.
While NATO ISAF has not released the nationalities nor the identities of the two troops who died, NBC News is reporting they were members of the U.S. Army:
The gunmen were dressed in Afghan Security Force uniforms when they opened fire on the Americans. The two attackers were also shot dead by return fire.
Wednesday's insider attack is the second case so far this year of green on blue violence.
The Associated Press explains:
Insider attacks in the past have been claimed by Taliban insurgents as proof they can infiltrate Afghanistan's Western-trained security forces. Other cases have involved personal disputes between Afghan forces and their trainers.
