U.S. Captures Suspected Ringleader Of Attack In Benghazi

The United States says it has captured a Libyan militant suspected of leading the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, said Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby.

In May 2013, Mt. Soledad Memorial welcomed a record number of guests Monday afternoon for its Memorial Day Celebration to remember and honor local Navy SEALS Glen Doherty and Ty Woods, both killed during a terrorist attack in Benghazi in Sept. 2012.

Ahmed Abu Khattala was captured by American troops after months of planning by the FBI. Kirby said Khattala was captured on Sunday and all the U.S. personnel involved in the operation are safe.

The Washington Post, which first reported the story, says Khattala is now "in a secure location outside of Libya."

If you remember, the attack on the consulate in Benghazi back on September 11, 2012, left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Congressional Republicans have criticized the Obama administration over its handling of the issue.

Khattala is the first person to be apprehended in connection to the attack.
