Five Californians are among the wealthiest members of Congress, including San Diego Congressman Darrell Issa, who ranks second on the "rich list."
A Washington D.C. newspaper, The Hill, released a list of the 50 wealthiest members of Congress. The rankings are based on financial disclosure records of the 535 members.
Massachusetts Democratic Senator John Kerry tops the list, with a personal fortune of at least $167.8 million.
Republican Darrell Issa is the second wealthiest member, with holdings of at least $164.7 million. Issa's fortune comes from Directed Electronics, a company he started in 1982. The Vista-based company is the largest designer and marketer of vehicle security and remote start systems.
