Mayor Jerry Sanders is scheduled to deliver his final State of the City address tonight, when he's expected to provide updates on major municipal construction projects.
Sanders -- who will leave office in December following two terms -- is also expected to announce new donations that will fund the completion of the new Central Library in the East Village.
More than $25 million was needed for the project's second phase as of the end of September, when the City Council was last informed about the progress of fundraising.
Sanders is also expected to push for financing plans to build a new stadium for the Chargers and expand the San Diego Convention Center. He will also call for elimination of the structural deficit when the next fiscal year's budget is adopted in June.
For those who can't make it to the Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego, the speech will be aired on City-TV one hour after its conclusion and shown occasionally on the cable channel over the next few weeks.
