San Diego Tea Party Activists Set To Rally On Tax Day

While some San Diego residents are scrambling to mail their taxes, others will be on street corners rallying for lower taxes and government reform.

The demonstrations are part of an annual nationwide movement against taxes and government spending.

San Diego Tea Party Patriots are marking Tax Day with two rallies on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m: one at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Post Office and the other at the Lexington Post Office in El Cajon.

The Patriots plan to hold signs and American flags to draw attention to “the government’s high level of taxation,” the group announced on its web site.

“We must continue voice our concerns,” stated Barry Willis of East County Tea Party. “The current administration has fallen under the 50 percent approval rating on Rasmussen for the first time in the last year… We must continue to protest this big government.”

A big decision awaits some voters this July as the race for San Diego County’s Supervisor District 1 seat heats up. Are you ready to vote? Check out the KPBS Voter Hub to learn about the candidates, the key issues the board is facing and how you can make your voice heard.
