Homeless Man Hit On Head In East Village

San Diego police were investigating a report Wednesday morning of a homeless man in the East Village being hit on the back of his head.

The man was near G Street and Eighth Avenue about 6:30 a.m. when he was possibly struck with a hammer, police Officer Frank Cali said.

The man was taken to a local hospital, and his condition is unknown, Cali said.

The only description of the attacker was that he was a white man riding on a blue bike, Cali said.

San Diego police said on Twitter that they don't believe the attack is related to the previous four attacks on homeless men last week. Three of the men attacked died and one was hospitalized in grave condition.
