Festival of Trees San Diego is the annual holiday kick-off event for the LGBTQ+ and allied communities in Hillcrest! The event features expertly decorated and donated holiday trees for auction, delivered to winners' homes the following day; a robust silent auction, VIP experience, and more! The 4th annual Festival of Trees benefits the North County LGBTQ+ Resource Center; specifically their HIV/AIDS resources and LGBTQ+ mental health/youth engagement and suicide prevention programs. The pair are bringing their unforgettable sound to UC San Diego’s Park & Market’s Intersection Concert Series on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Hailing from a renowned music dynasty, Vadim Kolpakov’s masterful compositions infuse traditional Gypsy music with elements of jazz, pop, and flamenco. Nicolas Adams, also known as “El Rom,” showcases his mastery of stringed instruments through his unique blend of traditional classic techniques with contemporary flourishes. Together, Nicolas and Vadim epitomize the joyous yet sophisticated spirit of Gypsy music. The Library's Autumn Concert Series takes place on Fridays from September 6 to October 25. Each concert will begin at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the performance. On October 18 we welcome Kimmi Bitter who is taking the country music scene by storm and won the Song of the Year at the 2024 San Diego Music Awards. “The future of classic country is Kimmi Bitter,” as Saving Country Music boldly states. Driven by a hyper-obsession for the 1960s, Kimmi Bitter and the Westside Twang create a captivating soundscape that blends golden-era Countrypolitan with psychedelic twangs and a mod flair. Creating a buzz from her grassroots efforts and vigorous touring, her debut album "Old School" hit the ground running in 2024 landing on the Top 25 Americana Album Radio Chart and has garnered three separate song nominations to date. Tracks like the tear-jerking ballad "My Grass is Blue" have grown comparisons of time when Patsy Cline and The Jordanaires overtook radiowaves.
