In the third year of this 7-year project examining the issues facing the planet’s most threatened ecosystems, Dr. M. Sanjayan visits the Maldives to take an in-depth look at coral reefs and the urgent efforts to help them survive climate change.
  • Premieres Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10 p.m. on KPBS TV / PBS App. Hunting whales is a matter of survival for Alaska Native residents of St. Lawrence. A family is blindsided when animal activists target their son, the youngest ever to harpoon a whale for his village - a hunt that feeds the community through winter. Also included is the short film "Everything Wrong and Nowhere to Go." Exploring the field of "climate psychology," this is a candid and comedic self-portrait in which the filmmaker turns the camera on herself and goes in search of a cure for her crippling climate anxiety.
  • Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 4 p.m. on KPBS TV / Stream with the PBS App and YouTube. Exploring the Nile Valley from north to south, we see the highlights of Egypt. In the fabled city of Alexandria, we venture through a market wonderland, smoke a shisha, and stroll a promenade. In Luxor, we explore the pharaohs' tombs and temples before sailing. Then we kick back on a riverboat cruise. Our finale: Ramses II's magnificent temple at Abu Simbel.

  • Encore Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 8 p.m. on KPBS 2 / Stream now with the PBS App. The dramatic and inspiring story of ordinary women who fought against overwhelming odds for the health and safety of their families. In the late 1970s, residents of Love Canal in Niagara Falls, New York, discovered that their homes, schools, and playgrounds were built on top of a former chemical waste dump.
  • Premieres Friday, April 19, 2024 at 9 p.m. on KPBS 2 / PBS App + Encore Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m. on KPBS 2. Renowned jazz saxophonist Joshua Redman takes the stage for a mesmerizing performance of his Blue Note Records debut album. Joining forces with soulful vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa, the artists take on music from Rodgers and Hart to Springsteen, all interpreted with the improvisational brilliance and melodic invention that is a hallmark of Redman's artistry.
  • Premieres Sundays, May 5 - 19, 2024 at 9 p.m. on KPBS TV / PBS App. This series tells a story about two sisters, about what binds them together and what has driven them apart. Becca (Jones) and Rosaline (Best) find themselves thrown together by the sudden death of their mother, Mary. They come to find out that she was living an entirely secret life on the Isle of Man, far from her home with her husband, Becca and Rosaline’s father.
  • Thursdays, April 18 - May 23, 2024 at 10 p.m. on KPBS TV (Not in the PBS App). Season 22 follows Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and Winter (Nick Hendrix) as they investigate an urban myth becoming a murderous reality – a post-operative heart rehabilitation club whose members’ dreams of a second chance at life are cut short, a murder mystery weekend, a twisted scarecrow festival, and an amateur dramatics company with deadly secrets.
