Homework load increases under political pressure

Political pressure to improve classroom performance by kids has resulted in a big increase in the amount of homework kids are expected to do. Even kids in kindergarten are taking work home that they (and their parents) are expected to complete. A number of parents and educators say expectations for doing homework are way out of hand.
Sara Bennett, co-author of the book, The Case Against Homework: How homework is hurting our children and what we can do about it. Bennett is a criminal defense attorney and a mother of two kids.
