The founder of super-secret mega-contractor SAIC retired as Chairman of the Board three years ago while his company was still employee-owned. Now he has a book out about building the successful $8 billion major government contractor. It was published the same time as a critical article about SAIC and its practices appeared in Vanity Fair. In a one on one interview, we'll look at the good, the bad and the ugly of SAIC.

Last October, San Diego's Science Applications International Corporation or SAIC raised more than $1billion with an initial public offering. This was quite a change for a company built on employee ownership. But change is one of the characteristics of SAIC -- along with growth, secrecy, and a close relationship with the federal government. SAIC expanded quickly as demand soared for it's services in defense, homeland security and intelligence.
