Opponents of the massive development proposed for the Navy Broadway Complex on San Diego Bay say they want to see the lease agreement between the Navy and the developer Doug Manchester.

Ian Trowbridge of the Navy Broadway Complex Coalition says he has filed a freedom of information act request for the lease document.

Trowbridge: It’s important because we cant understand the fiscal impact on the city of this project with out the lease agreement. The city believes that its going to make money out of this project eventually and that’ll lead the development of the North Embarcadero but that’s far from certain.

The 99 year lease allows the developer to build several blocks of commercial developments, in return for building a state-of-the-art Navy headquarters on part of the site.

The Broadway Complex Coalition wants more public open space on the prime downtown waterfront site. They plan to appeal the environmental impact report to the city council next week.
