Weekend Travelers Cautioned Over High Winds

Southern California travelers won't have to worry about gusty winds until the weekend. National Weather Service forecaster Stan Wasowski says strong gusty winds are possible below passes and canyons Friday night and Saturday. He says winds could gust up to 60 miles an hour in some areas before conditions change.

Wasowski : The one that comes in on Friday night, Saturday, does have a little more offshore push so we'll get a little better winds out of that one there before it weakens very rapidly by Saturday night -- well Saturday afternoon it will probably be almost gone.

He says the strong gusty winds will mainly develop through and below passes and canyons, with the strongest winds below the Cajon Pass and over the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills. Gusts over the San Diego County mountain areas could reach 50 miles an hour.
