Senator Dianne Feinstein comes to San Diego tomorrow to investigate the response to last month's wildfires.  Feinstein and other lawmakers will look at what worked, what didn't, and what needs to change. KPBS reporter Andrew Phelps has more.

Feinstein is chairwoman of a Senate subcommittee that decides how to spend federal money on fighting fires.

Lawmakers will examine the response of federal, state and local agencies. And the hearing will examine prevention of future fires, especially in fire-prone communities. In particular, Feinstein wants to know how to get easier access to military aircraft.

Feinstein will meet farmers to talk about the devastation to their industry. Early estimates put the region's agriculture losses at nearly $50 million.

Joining the senator will be County Supervisor Ron Roberts, City Council President Scott Peters and Congressman Bob Filner of San Diego.

The meeting is downtown at City Hall.
