Jan Hedlund of Potrero fled her home this morning after being awakened by friends who came to get her because of the fast- moving fire. Hedlund says several firefighters in Potrero are standing by to fight the blaze. But Hedlund told reporter Amita Sharma strong winds are intensifying and that's made it difficult for firefighters to use all of their tools to put out the fire.

Hedlund: They've had to shut down the planes because the wind keeps kicking up. There are still helicopters flying. They've been dumping water and retardants. But the winds are so erratic that it dampens it for a moment but then other sparks flare so right now it looks better than it did an hour ago.

Sharma: Do you feel like your place is safe for now?

Headlund: For now.

Hedlund says last she checked, flames had come within 30 feet of her home.
