Imperial Valley Looks Toward Renewable Energy Sources

Tom Fudge: On Wednesday, These Days is going out of town. We'll be broadcasting live from the California Mid-Winter Fair and Festival in the Imperial Valley. Our live broadcast is Wednesday at 6 p.m. We’ll rebroadcast that show in our regular time slot on Thursday morning.

In anticipation of our jaunt to the Imperial Valley, we're spending a little time this week examining some of the Valley's important issues. Today, KPBS environmental reporter Ed Joyce joins me in studio. He's going to talk with us about plans to make the production of alternative energy one of Imperial County's major enterprises. This, by the way, is one of the issues that is driving the debate over whether or not to build the controversial power line called the Sunrise Powerlink .
