Don't they just make the cutest couple? (Sony Pictures)
Hmmm? I always thought June was the month for weddings. Oh well, I guess Hollywood always likes to get a jump on its competition so Sony Pictures is releasing its wedding comedy Made of Honor (opening May 2 throughout San Diego) in the merry month of May, ahead of all those June brides. Weddings are often the backdrop for romantic comedies going back to classics like Father of the Bride (that would be the one with Spencer Tracy not Steve Martin) and Philadelphia Story to more recent box office hits such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and My Best Friend's Wedding . In this latest outing, a woman asks her best friend to be her maid of honor. The "twist" is that her best friend is a man.

While I don't disagree with much of anything in your assessment of "Made of Honor" (hence my similarly scathing review), I feel like sticking up for the screenwriters since I do think that they have made entertaining films in the past ... though in the teen comedy genre. "Josie and the Pussycats" is surprisingly funny, due to the supporting cast mostly (and particularly the fake boy band Du Jour). Then there's "Can't Hardly Wait" which is the best representation of what a high school party in the 90's was like (sadly, I can confirm this). That doesn't condone them for making this piece of trite terribleness ... I just felt like throwing in my two cents since I had change left over.
