KPBS Takes Top Awards at the San Diego Press Club 35th Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards
Including Best of Show for television
“Meth Next Door” KPBS TV
SAN DIEGO- KPBS was recognized for outstanding achievements in, radio, television, and website. On October 21, 2008 the San Diego Pres Club announced the winners of the 35th Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards and KPBS was honored with 13 awards- five in first place and one in Best of Show for the Best Television Entry.
The Best of Show went to KPBS Television for the Envision San Diego: “Meth Next Door” episodes. It explored the impacts that methamphetamine use has on public safety and the wide spectrum of those addicted to the drug, from housewives, to business owners, to teenagers.
KPBS radio received five first place awards including; Newscast “Morning Edition”; General News Story “Clean Trucks”; Series, “ San Diego Wildfires”; Talk/Interview/Call-in , “Editor’s Roundtable: March 21, 2007; and Specialty Reporting- single report, “Recover”.
