Tom Fudge: Earl Thomas was a kid living in Guam where his Dad was stationed in the Navy, when he went into a soda fountain. There, the juke box was playing Honkey Tonk Woman, performed by Ike and Tina Turner. There was something about the sound of that tune that got him thinking about making music. A year later he said to his Dad, "When I grow up, I'm going to be a singer in a band."
