The San Diego Chargers and their all-pro running back are continuing contract restructuring talks.
The Chargers have indicated they want LaDainian Tomlinson to take less guaranteed money next season. LT has indicated he wants to stay in San Diego, but it's unclear if he will play for less money.
North County Times sports columnist Jay Paris says during the process of contract discussions, the Chargers must be respectful of Tomlinson's contribution to the franchise.
They're going to have to do it in a manner that doesn't embarrass a future Hall of Famer and try to keep him around, because if he is let go, make no doubt he will be scooped-up quickly, and it will be by a team that's going to be competitive, and ya know, you'd hate to see LT gaining yards for somebody else in the playoffs," said Paris.
Paris expects news about Tomlinson's future with the team to be announced by Thursday.
