Mexican officials say a new police team will patrol the coastal corridor from Tijuana to Ensenada. Officials say San Diego police will help train the officers.

Mexican officials say the new police group will focus on protecting tourists who visit Baja California's coast.

Officials say the officers will speak English and Spanish.

San Diego Police officials will help train them and provide educational materials.

During the past few years, many U.S. tourists have avoided Baja California due to long border waits, the economic crisis and drug cartel violence. That contributed to record losses for Baja California's tourism industry last year.

Earlier this year, swine flu dealt the industry another blow, even though there were more cases in San Diego than in Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada.

The mayors of those three Mexican cities will join City of San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders early next week to sign a letter of intent to formalize the San Diego Police Department's participation.

Oh great.

San Diego police are going to train the Mexicans how to

1. Confiscate property;

2. Make trial lawyers prosperous;

3. Say that unclaimed bodies of the dead prove that they are the bad guys (never mind the price of burial / cremation);

4. Fill the pockets of anti-drug lobbyists;

5. Promote job growth in the prisons;

6. Push people like Michael Jackson to big pharmacy;

7. Put drug users in prison so they can build up their gangs and create more jobs for law enforcement;

8. Have an easy way to put people in prison by throwing a little weed in their cars;

9. Scare children that if drugs are illegal that through no fault of their own they will start using them.

I could go on and on but law enforcement will not listen.

Maybe if lobbying against drug legalization at the taxpayer's expense was made illegal, this misappropriation of resources would end.

Legalizing small amounts of drugs is like legalizing one beer. It is a joke.
