Police were on the lookout Thursday for a man who grabbed a young woman, bit her on the neck and attempted to pull off her pants at San Diego Mesa College.

The student was able to fight off the man after he jumped out of the bushes and grabbed her Tuesday afternoon on an access road off Mesa College Circle, but the attack left her bruised, according to broadcast news reports.

The suspect was described as Hispanic, 5 feet 10 to 5 feet 11 and muscular, with brown hair and dark eyes. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark jeans.

KPBS has created a public safety coverage policy to guide decisions on what stories we prioritize, as well as whose narratives we need to include to tell complete stories that best serve our audiences. This policy was shaped through months of training with the Poynter Institute and feedback from the community. You can read the full policy here.
