San Diego County's latest employment trends bode well for job-seekers. The San
Diego Workforce Partnership's 19th annual labor market study shows that the local
economy remains strong. KPBS Reporter Ed Joyce has more.

Partnership spokesman Gary Moss says nearly half of the employers surveyed plan to increase hiring over the next year.

Moss: The registered nurses, the lvns, but also in the construction area. Construction managers had some growth to it and also brick masons and bricklayers. One of the other areas that kind of stood out was motorcycle mechanics. Looks like there's going to be a need for people to work on motorcycles in the upcoming year.

Moss says the turnover rate is low in technical positions, such as civil and software engineers. Nearly 500 employers took part in the study. They provided information on 29 occupations, from biological technicians to bakers. Ed Joyce, KPBS News.
