Two days ago, North Korea tested a nuclear bomb. Seismic measurements seemed to confirm the government’s announcement of the test. At the same time, intelligence reports are mixed on how successful the detonation was.

Everyone seems to agree that North Korea’s nuclear test represents a huge failure of international diplomacy. The world’s major powers are united in their desire to prevent North Korea from having nuclear weapons. Now, the U.S., China, Japan and South Korea are trying to decide how to respond.
