Southern California grocery workers say they are getting ready for a possible work stoppage. Union members are gathering today in San Diego and Los Angeles to prepare picket signs and build up a union-maintained food reserve.
The union's Mike Shimpock says talks with representatives from Ralph's, Albertson's and Vons stores are not productive.
Shimpock : Our members sent a very strong message two weeks ago, that they're very frustrated with the pace of negotiations and the stalling of management in these negotiations. We're simply preparing for the worst at this point.
Wages, health care and pensions are the sticking points. The federal official mediating the talks asked both sides to take a break from negotiations until Monday.
