Local Art Show Features Work of Urban, Hip Hop Artist


Alison St John (Guest Host): If you saw Justin Bua's book The Beat of Urban Art on a shelf, chances are your hand would just reach out, right then and there, and pick it up -- the picture on the front, a distorted yet highly realistic image of a DJ. It’s arresting. And the illustrated story inside keeps you turning the pages with amazement and amusement.

Justin Bua is one of hip hop's most celebrated visual artists. He's provided the artwork for numerous album covers, and has designed limited edition shoe lines. 

 An exhibition of Bua's artwork opens this weekend at Distinction Gallery in downtown Escondido. There will be an opening reception from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 9 th .
