The city of La Mesa holds the region's largest senior housing expo next Wednesday. The free event at La Mesa's Community Center will offer information on home care, low-income housing, and assisted living centers. KPBS reporter Kenny Goldberg has the story.
It’s the 4th annual senior housing expo in La Mesa . Organizers say it’s a great opportunity for seniors and their family members to learn about housing options.
Judy Stern is the human services manager for the city of La Mesa. She says people who have aging parents can really benefit from the information.
Stern : It's a way to help them to plan before the crisis occurs. So they can begin to have some dialog, and to talk to mom or dad about the different options that they have, for when the health changes.
A speaker from the County will be on hand to talk about housing assistance for low-income seniors and those with disabilities. The concept of house sharing will also be explored at the event.
