Feinstein Offers Home to Clinton, Obama for Private Meeting
Hillary Clinton is expected to suspend her presidential campaign this weekend. California's senior senator is doing what she can to close the schism between Clinton and her rival, Barack Obama. KPBS reporter Andrew Phelps has the story.
Dianne Feinstein says she received the senators in her Washington living room, offered them comfortable chairs, and then left them alone for about an hour. No staff, no security, no journalists.
Feinstein is a longtime Clinton supporter. She says the senator deserves time to decompress.
Feinstein: Hillary represents a very large bloc of voters, the largest ever for anybody that's come in No. 2 and has the popular vote. She is, I think, desirous of protecting the issues that she cares about to the extent she can, seeing that the people are represented in this administration - and certainly in this convention.
Feinstein says Clinton and Obama left her home laughing together.
