Authorities say a former Assembly speaker's teenage son charged with the murder of a San Diego college student has been released from jail after posting bail.

Authorities say a former Assembly speaker's teenage son charged with the murder of a San Diego college student has been released from jail after posting bail.

San Diego County jail records show 19-year-old Esteban Nunez posted bail yesterday just a few hours after a judge had halved the bail amount from $2 million to $1 million.

Nunez is the son of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez.

Esteban Nunez and three other defendants pleaded not guilty last week to murdering San Diego Mesa College student Luis Santos outside a fraternity party in October.

Authorities say co-defendant Rafael Garcia had also posted bail and is being processed for release this morning. The other two, Ryan Jett and Leshanor Thomas, remain jailed.

A judge yesterday found their initial bail was set too high and reduced the amount for all the defendants.
