National City will close its City Hall for two weeks beginning Dec. 23 to save more than $150,000 in salary and energy costs, city officials announced Monday.
The closure, which will run through Jan. 5, will save an estimated $138,500 in salary costs and an additional $11,910 in energy costs, according to a statement released today by National City's Administrative Services.
"During this time, essential emergency personnel from the police and fire department will remain in operation to include animal control, graffiti abatement and parking enforcement," the statement read. "The city will have standby and on-call personnel from public works, fire investigations, and executives and managers from each department."
Park maintenance and Senior Nutrition Center operations were also scheduled to continue despite the closure.
