The innovative concert series LIVE FROM THE ARTISTS DEN returns for its eighth season, featuring Billboard-topping, Grammy-winning artists performing in intimate venues, ranging from a former bank in Houston, Texas to a hidden gem of a museum in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood. In the premiere episode, country superstar Tim McGraw tears through a dozen songs at The Corinthian bank building in Houston, including hits "Southern Girl" and "One of Those Nights," as well as new, never-before-heard material from his forthcoming album. Other featured episodes include Mexican guitar virtuosos Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Hispanic Society of America in New York, British pop star Lily Allen at the Manhattan Center's Grand Ballroom, and breezy singer-songwriter Jason Mraz at a secret location in Los Angeles.
"Rodrigo y Gabriela" - On the eve of the release of their new album, "9 Dead Alive," the incomparable Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela performed at Upper Manhattan's Hispanic Society of America for an episode of LIVE FROM THE ARTISTS DEN.
The two virtuoso musicians played a dazzling 12-song set in the century-old museum's Sorolla Gallery, surrounded by the 14 paintings that make up Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida's masterwork "Vision of Spain," a celebration of the country's diverse customs.
It was a breathtaking setting for Rodrigo y Gabriela's unique fusion of musical genres, a mix of melodic beauty and percussive fury which drove the 300 invited guests into clapping, stomping glee.
The set list includes "The Soundmaker," "Torito," "Diablo Rojo," "Sunday Neurosis," "Misty Moses," "Orion," "Chac Mool," "The Russian Messenger," "Santo Domingo," "Hanuman," "Tamacún," "Ixtapa," "Savitri" and "Fram."
