Soccer fans can view the Women's World Cup final soccer match between the U.S. and Japan on big screens at the Waterfront Park or Petco Park in downtown San Diego on Sunday, the county announced Thursday.
The rematch of the 2011 final, which will be played in Vancouver, Canada, will be displayed at the Waterfront Park on a 20- by 27-foot high- definition screen designed for daytime viewing.
Fans are invited early to the park outside the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway. Food trucks will be on site and the concession stand will be open, county officials said. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed.
Petco Park officials said the game will also be displayed in the big screen at the Park in the Park, located beyond the center field seats.
The U.S. is seeking its first World Cup title since 1999. Four years ago, Japan won on penalty kicks following a 2-2 tie in regulation.
