College Area Residents Worry About Return Of Party Scene As Students Head Back To Campus
As in-person learning resumes this semester at SDSU, local residents worry about the party scene on campus.
San Diego State University students began the fall semester Monday, mostly in-person. Last year, SDSU was forced to abandon most campus classes because of a spike in COVID-19 cases at the start of the fall 2020 semester.
This semester, to protect the school community and everyone around it, a vaccine mandate has been put in place, plus more oversight on campus parties and gatherings.
Some College Area residents, however, are raising concerns that the enthusiasm of pent-up college kids is creating a bigger-than-usual party culture this year.
Gary Robbins has been covering the story for The San Diego Union-Tribune and joined KPBS Midday Edition on Monday to discuss residents' concerns and how the university is responding.
