Are you a budding and enterprising arts journalist wanting to cut your teeth?
Blogger, tweeter, or podcaster? Public radio fan who wants to work in the office next to Maureen Cavanaugh, host of These Days?
Culture Lust, the KPBS arts and culture blog, is looking for an intern to help cover the San Diego arts community. The internship also includes some radio and video production.
Candidates should be familiar with the San Diego arts scene, posting to the web, and with blog-style writing.
Unfortunately, it's an unpaid internship.
BUT! I can promise oodles of interesting and entertaining content to write about, friendly co-workers, and a behind-the-scenes look at making radio and web content. There's also good coffee and the occasional baked goods on offer.

Here's the job description:
Specific Duties
Responsibilities include:
Writing posts/stories related to the arts in San Diego.
Researching upcoming arts events of interest to the KPBS audience.
Work with editor to come up with story ideas and develop appropriate angles.
Work with editor to develop arts related beat (books, film, music, etc.) and pitch story ideas related to beat.
Develop and maintain network of sources related to beat.
Help maintain social media presence for blog and arts coverage.
Represent KPBS in a courteous and professional manner to sources and publicists.
Post stories to the KPBS website, including photographs and links.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Special Skills:
Journalism and HTML/web experience preferred. Interest in the arts very helpful.
Blogging experience helpful.
Good attention to detail. Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation. AP Stylebook or proofreading experience preferred.
Ability to prioritize work and the ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to take initiative and enterprise stories.
Ability to follow directions from a supervisor.
Ability to complete routine assignments independently or with little supervision.
Video production and editing experience a plus.
