Maureen Cavanaugh: When you break the law, after you're tried and convicted, you're sent to prison. And as far as most of society is concerned, that's the end of the story. But for the people who are sent to prison, it's just the beginning. They have to adapt to a different world: learn the rules and survive the dangers inside prison. And then, after they've served their time, they wear the label of ex-con out in society.
