Tyler Perry Brings Stage Show to Screen

In 1975, playwright Ntozake Shange gained acclaim for her "chorepoem" entitled "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf." Now Tyler Perry is adapting her stage production to the big screen.

Tyler Perry keeps defying conventional wisdom by making films outside the conventional Hollywood system and without the support of mainstream media AND making a bunch of money doing it. Whether you like his films or not, you have to admire his ability to challenge the system and come out ahead. For his latest project, he is leaving his own original work behind to adapt Shange's Obie award-winning play to the screen.

Here's the latest trailer.

"For Colored Girls" will open in theaters on November 5.
