San Diego County Regional Airport Authority officials are expecting more people than usual to pass through Lindbergh Field this weekend. An estimated 50,000 people a day are expected to fly in or out of San Diego, about 10 percent higher than a typical day. Today is expected to be among the busiest days as vacationers head to their destinations. The extra travelers will put pressure on airport security, but the crowds should be easy to handle.

"Eight, nine years ago, everybody was scared to death of coming to the airport because of what might be there," said Nico Melendez of the Transportation Security Administration. "But now passengers know what's going on. We have the right staffing. We're working with the airlines and the airport to make things go quicker and more efficiently for the passengers."

The TSA is making an extra effort to reach out to people who don't fly a lot. He says they are less familiar with his agency's rules and restrictions.
