San Diego County Gasoline Price Drops To Lowest Amount Since Dec. 28

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Tuesday to its lowest amount since Dec. 28, falling eight-tenths of a cent to $3.604.

The average price has fallen 25 of the past 27 days and is 3.6 cents less than a week ago, 18.4 cents lower than one month ago and 19.8 cents below what it was last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The dropping pump prices are the result of lower wholesale prices and the Nov. 1 switch to winter blend gasoline, which costs less to produce, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

A big decision awaits some voters this July as the race for San Diego County’s Supervisor District 1 seat heats up. Are you ready to vote? Check out the KPBS Voter Hub to learn about the candidates, the key issues the board is facing and how you can make your voice heard.
