The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Thursday for the 10th consecutive day, decreasing 1.4 cents to $4.066.
The average price has decreased 8.7 cents over the past 10 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.7 cents below one week ago, 3.5 cents lower than one month ago and eight-tenths of a cent below what it was one year ago.
"That's some great news for San Diego drivers. We're seeing the effects of lower wholesale prices and improved supply," Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California, told Video News West.
The average price rose 11 times in the 15 days immediately preceding the start of the drop, pushing the average price to its highest amount since May 19.
Montgomery encouraged motorists to cash in by waiting a little longer before filling up.
But, she warned, "You don't want to wait until it's too low. You don't want to run out of gas."
