The Sanford Education Center at National University announced an anonymous $9.22 million gift Tuesday.
It's the largest ever donation National University has received, according to a university press release, and comes six months after the Sanford Education Center was first established. The gift will cover construction costs and programs that support the development of nonprofit leaders and teachers.
The La Jolla-based center is expected to open this fall. It offers the Sanford Cause Leadership Program, which trains nonprofit leaders in relationship building and fundraising techniques, and Sanford Education Programs, which train teachers on classroom strategies.
“The Sanford Education Center is dedicated to positive change in our communities through the development and support of dynamic nonprofit leaders and inspirational teachers, and others dedicated to the public good,” said Dr. Michael R. Cunningham, National University's president and chancellor, in a statement. “This transformational gift will leave a legacy for many generations to come through impactful programs that meet 21st Century global needs, enabling us to change the world, one graduate at a time.”
