Community clinics in San Diego and other parts of California will be taking some major hits in the new state budget.
One state program called Expanded Access to Primary Care will be cut by $8.4 million. Community clinics use that money to treat the uninsured.
Barbara Mannino, CEO of Vista Community Clinic says the Healthy Families program has been forced to put all eligible children who aren't enrolled on a waiting list. Mannino says that will affect a lot of her clients.
"It means when they come in they will be expected to pay on our sliding fee scale," says Mannino. "And many families find it difficult to even come up with the $30 to bring their children in, so they delay care."
A number of the state programs' community clinics used to pay for services will be cut by 30 percent.
