Two San Diego Police officers were arrested Thursday on a variety of charges during an East County drug sweep by Sheriff’s deputies.
Bryce Charpentier, 32, and his wife Jennifer Charpentier, 41, were arrested on suspicion of sale of a controlled substance, possession, transportation and conspiracy. Bryce Charpentier, 32, faces an additional charge of allegedly being under the influence while in possession of a loaded firearm.
According to a statement from the Sheriff’s department, after the arrests San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman was notified immediately and briefed by Sheriff Bill Gore.
The couple were arrested without incident Thursday morning and booked into county jail facilities.

The San Diego Police Department is fully cooperating with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and is in complete support of their investigation. When notified of the arrests, Chief Zimmerman immediately placed both officers on leave and revoked their police powers. Officer Bryce Charpentier is a 6 year veteran and works out of Mid-City Division. Officer Jennifer Charpentier is an 18 year veteran and works out of Western Division.
Investigators identified the couple as suspects within the past week, according to sheriff's officials, who declined to immediately release further details about the case.
Bryce Charpentier was tentatively scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, while his wife's initial court appearance was slated for June 16, according to the District Attorney's Office.
