Coronado Bay Bridge Lighting Project Gets A Jolt

The San Diego Coronado Bay Bridge is one big check closer to getting a major facelift.

InterContinental Hotels is set to donate $100,000 to the San Diego Coronado Bay Bridge Lighting Fund. InterContinental will make the announcement at a Wednesday morning groundbreaking for its new waterfront hotel at the corner of West Broadway and Pacific Highway.

The bridge lighting project kicked off back in 2006 but was set aside due to the recession.

The $100,000 donation marks the first major contribution to the project's renewed effort.

The Port of San Diego hopes to raise $1 million by the end of the year for the installation's design phase.
