Preparations are underway for San Diego's annual Fourth of July fireworks show, the Port Of San Diego's Big Bay Boom, with organizers promising a spectacular show.

Sam Bruggema of Pyro Spectaculars said his crew of 32 has been setting up for the past four days, and would be testing the circuits Monday evening.

"Everybody's going to receive and have a different favorite spot in the show," he said. "My whole thing about it is I hope they enjoy the beginning just as much as the end."

Spectators can watch the show from all around the waterfront starting at 9 p.m., with patriotic music simulcast on the radio. Parking fills up fast, so free shuttles will be running to viewpoints on Harbor and Shelter islands.

The Big Bay Boom in 2012 lasted only 15 seconds after a malfunction caused all the fireworks to go off at once. That show was produced by a different pyrotechnics company.
